Sep 07, 2026"Tahu Campur and Tahu Telor are 2 unique or traditional food from East Java. It has been famously known and can be easily found in many places in Surabaya and the surrounding cities. It is basically noodle soup with bits of fried tofu, kikil (cow’s soft feet) with a bit of petis or the typical paste from East Java. You eat it with shrimp crackers and chili. Super yum and fresh. This place is quite spacious, with warung style. 1 portion is Rp 22K. So cheap!"

Aug 03, 2026"In Surabaya, people often call it “Tahu Campur Kalasan”: Tahu Campur H. ABD. Mahfud Asli Kalasan, which is famous for its location on Jalan Kalasan and its status as one of the legendary restaurants. Several culinary reports mention that this place has been famous since the late 1970s and has survived until now. The most typical composition is usually as follows: pieces of beef and/or tripe/tendons (often called kothotan/otot), fried tofu, lentho/cassava patties, yellow noodles, bean sprouts, lettuce/watercress, then topped with a savory-sweet meat sauce with petis seasoning, plus fried onions and chili sauce. For H. Abd. Mahfud's version, culinary reports describe a “complete” serving as containing pieces of meat, tendon, yellow noodles, vegetables, with a broth that tends to be thick—and this is what makes many people fall in love with it. The preparation process (a general description of the kitchen) begins with preparing beef soup/broth: the meat and tendons are boiled until tender, and the broth is seasoned with onions, spices, salt, and sugar (many people like the “savory-sweet” profile). On the other hand, the petis sauce is made (petis is diluted and then seasoned—this is what gives tahu campur its distinctive “kick”). The tofu is fried, the lentho/cassava patties are fried, the noodles are boiled briefly, and the bean sprouts and vegetables are usually just blanched to keep them fresh. When serving, the bowl is first layered with the ingredients (noodles, bean sprouts, vegetables, tofu, lentho, meat and tendon), then topped with hot broth and petis sauce, and finally garnished with crackers/shrimp crackers, fried onions, and chili sauce to taste. Give it a try."
